Angela's PaperArts: Tri-panel gatefold card

I recently attended a charity card making day and one of the types of cards we made was a tri-panel gatefold card. I like this style of card and have re-created it using some of my favourite retired patterned papers, the Stampin' Up!, Joy of Christmas DSP.

Here's the card closed and kept together with a bellyband. The gold foil sentiment is from the Greeting For You mix & match ephemera pack.

When the bellyband is removed, the card opens up to reveal the message to the recipient. If needed, you could even add a little pocket for a gift card inside too as there's plenty of space to hold a gift card or money.

While I've made this card in landscape orientation, it can also be easily flipped to be a portrait card too. The choice is yours. It does take a whole sheet of A4 cardstock to create the card base and bellyband, so it's not as economical to create as some other gatefold card styles, but I think the end result is worth it.

Angela's PaperArts: Christmas star fun fold card

I'm running a bit late this year making Christmas cards but had to try making the popular star fun fold card.

Here's my version which also folds flat for posting in a 5"x7" envelope.

Here's an overhead view of the card which shows the six point star formation on the left side.

Here's a side view of the card which highlights the shape of the star.

To create this card, I used the retired Stampin' Up! Poinsettia dies, Greetings for You ephemera pack and Real Red cardstock along with Traditional Christmas patterned paper pack by Scrapbook Fantasies.

You can find the tutorial I used to make this card here.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Hang An Ornament Upright Diamond Fold card

I've been creating Upright Diamond fold cards featuring the Stampin' Up! Hang An Ornament bundle.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Hang An Ornament Upright Diamond fold card

The bauble diecut is actually perforated with three small tabs holding it in place with the cardstock. This makes it perfect for hiding some gift money behind the bauble as gently pulling the bauble detaches it from the cardstock to reveal the cash.

Here's how the front Upright Diamond was assembled with the card base section of the diamond stamped with a greeting from Hang An Ornament first.

The decorated front Upright Diamond with the bauble was then adhered with foam tape to elevate it over the cash which is hidden until the bauble is removed.

Here's how the card looks closed. It's been decorated with the Stampin' Up! Take A Bow designer series paper on both sides of the Upright Diamond.

You can find a tutorial for creating this style of card on the Splitcoast Stampers website. Alternatively, I used the Snazzi Scrappin die set to quickly create all the layers to this card instead of having to manually cut all the pieces.

The Hang An Ornament bundle is retiring so I'd recommend you head to my online store to get yours today before it's gone for good. The recently updated Last Chance Products category in my online store is where retiring products are up to 80% off RRP (while stock lasts), plus free shipping on orders of AUD$65 or more is still available until tomorrow, 11 December 2024.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Christmas labels distressed rustic Christmas card

I'm continuing to make my Christmas cards and thought I'd share a tip for distressing embossed cardstock today.

Here's the card which features the Christmas Labels bundle, Painted Trees 3D embossing folder, Winter Meadows designer series paper and the two-tone Garden Green cardstock from the Reindeer Memories multi colour two-tone cardstock pack.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Christmas Labels and Painted Trees 3D embossed distressed Christmas card

TIP: The two-tone cardstock has a light and dark side of the Garden Green colour and also a white core. This makes it easy to distress & reveal the white core by using a piece of sandpaper or an emery board. By lightly rubbing the sandpaper over the raised edges of the Painted Trees 3D embossed cardstock, it revealed the white core which looks like 'snow' on the trees.

Another way to distress embossed cardstock is to swipe an inkpad over the raised sections of the embossed cardstock to get contrasting colours on the embossed image.

You may remember this tip from my last post where I showed how to save the excess diecut pieces from the largest Christmas Labels as they are cute little flourishes.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Christmas Labels and Marbled Elegance Christmas card

Here's how I used the little flourish pieces on this card's sentiment label. I tucked them around the Christmas label to add a finishing touch.

I also flicked ink mixed with a little water onto the card to add a further distressing element to the card.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Christmas Labels card

Making Christmas cards is at the top of my crafting list at the moment.  The Stampin' Up! Christmas Labels bundle is a lovely set for adding sentiments onto my cards. I've also used the newly released Marbled Elegance specialty designer series paper on the two cards I'm sharing today.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Christmas Labels and Marbled Elegance Christmas card

The Marbled Elegance paper has been released to co-ordinate with the new Hearts of Elegance stamp & die bundle.  I love the versatility of this paper as some of the sheets have a red, gold & white colour scheme which perfectly suits Christmas projects too.

TIP: To economically use the distressed gold foil paper onto which the Marbled Elegance paper was matted, I diecut the Christmas Label out of the paper first. Once the Marbled Elegance paper was layered on top of it, the hole in the gold foil paper was totally covered and the card recipient wouldn't know it was there at all.

TIP: You may notice from the picture above that there are little flourishes under the largest Christmas Labels diecut. These are pieces which come out of the label which would normally be thrown away, but not this time - they're perfect little flourish accents on projects.

Here are the two card side by side. Which one do you prefer?

Angela's PaperArts: Christmas in July

Have you started your Christmas card making as yet?

I often start making my Christmas cards in July so there's no last minute rush to get them done on time. This is the first card for the year.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Spotlight on Nature and Unbounded Love dies Christmas card

While the papers are remnants from last year, I did use the current Spotlight on Nature circular dies and the wreath is from the Lifetime of Love die set to create this card.

Angela's PaperArts: Pine wreath Christmas card

I do like making wreath cards. I created this pine wreath Christmas card by layering pine branches from the retiring Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel die set around a Deckled Circle diecut.

Once the wreath was formed, I then layered it onto a square card base featuring the also retiring Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper

Here's a close-up of the pine wreath focal embellishment.

Do you need an affordable gift for friends & work colleagues? Then this chocolate slider featuring Stampin' Up!'s retiring Leaves of Holly bundle is the perfect solution.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Christmas chocolate slider box featuring Leaves of Holly and Holly Berry dies

Angela's PaperArts: Whimsical Woodland Masked Christmas Card

I wanted to highlight how cute the Stampin' Up! Whimsical Woodland 3D embossing folder is on these cards.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Whimsical Woodland 3D embossing folder mask technique Christmas card

I used a masking technique to create the coloured centre piece to highlight the embossing on both of these cards.  For the card on the left, I used metallic gilding polish from my stash for a bright finish.  For the card on the right, I used a Stampin' Up! blending brush to blend three inks for a softer look.

Which do you prefer?

Here's the brighter version with a metallic gilding polish centre.Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Whimsical Woodland 3D embossing folder mask technique Christmas card
