One wild birthday ride

Here's a little something for a man in your life featuring the Stampin' Up! One Wild Ride stamp set.

I started with a Basic Black card stock base and layered the chevron patterned paper from the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper pack.  This DSP is versatile and whilst it may feature pink on one side, it has a lot of generic black and white patterns on the other side which are perfect for male cards like this one.  I then cut a banner out of Cherry Cobber card stock and layered it onto the card base. I stamped the motorbike and sentiment from the One Wild Ride stamp set onto Whisper White card stock using Memento Tuxedo black ink and then used the grungy 'gravel' stamp from that set to add the grey 'distressed' look around the bike in Smoky Slate ink.  I then stamped the 'Born to Ride' sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink onto Whisper White card stock, cut it out and layered it onto a co-ordinating banner in Basic Black cardstock diecut from the Bunch of Banners framelit sets.  A couple of Cherry Cobbler enamel dots completes the card.

Gilded detailed floral card

I went to a workshop last week with a good friend to try a gilding flakes technique.  Thanks so much for taking me along to the session Elaine - I had a great time and what a 'wow' factor gilding flakes add to a card - so shiny with various colours peeking through depending upon which angle you look at the card.

With the exception of the gilding flakes, all materials used are from Stampin' Up!  I started with a Whisper White card base and stamped the Stylized Birthday greeting in glue, let it dry until it was just tacky and added the gilding flakes.  I then cut the Whisper White Detailed Floral diecut and layered tape behind the diecut.  I stuck the diecut onto the bottom of the card and where the glue tape was showing through the diecut, added the gilding flakes and worked them into the Detailed Floral shape.  I added a 1/8" gold metallic ribbon bow and coloured some pearls with an alcohol marker to match the gilding flakes and scattered these onto the card too.  Don't have gilding flakes? - not a problem as you can use microbeads, flocking or even various inks to give a contrast to your Detailed floral diecut.

Birthday mixed borders

Sometimes I just need a quick note card to wish someone a happy birthday and at other times I need a card with a few extra details.  The Stampin' Up! Mixed Border stamp set lets you create cards for any occasion.

One of the features of the Mixed Borders stamp set is that the borders have a deliberate gap perfectly sized for where the co-ordinating sentiments in the set can be stamped.

For the smaller white card, I used the Stampin' Up!' pre-packaged note cards which come with co-ordinating envelopes.  The floral border was stamped in Blushing Bride ink and then I stamped the co-ordinating leaves border in Mint Macaron.  The sentiment was stamped and diecut using the Tags and Labels framelits and layered onto the card.  The butterflies were stamped using Blushing Bride ink and a touch of Mint Macaron sponged onto the edges of the stamp and punched using the Bitty Butterfly punch.  Some pearls on the butterflies completes the card.

The second card is based on the same design as the white card but with a Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaron colour scheme.   The top layer of Sweet Sugarplum card stock was embossed with the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for added interest.

Fairy celebration birthday card

I enjoy getting out my markers to colour stamped images and the very cute Stampin' Up! Fairy Celebration stamp set is perfect for colouring with water or alcohol markers.  You could even water colour it too.

I started with a Calypso Coral card stock base and layered it with A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper which co-ordinated perfectly with the Fairy Celebration stamp set.  I stamped the image to be coloured onto Whisper White card stock and coloured the image using now retired Stampin' Up! Blendabilities alcohol markers - although you could water colour, use pencils or Stampin' Write water based markers to colour the image too.  I added some sparkle with Wink of Stella onto the toadstool and fairy's wings, although this unfortunately doesn't show up well in the photo.  I layered the coloured image onto a mat of Pool Party and Calypso Coral card stock.  I stamped the greeting in Calypso Coral and punched it out using the Classic Label punch, layered it onto Pool Party card stock and added a very cute Pool Party enamel heart.  I finished the card by adding a Pool Party Satin Stitched ribbon to the corner of the image.
