Make your own photo corners

When scrapbooking or card making, I sometimes want a photo corner which co-ordinates with what I'm making.

Here's a tutorial on how to make your own co-ordinating photo corners using Stampin' Up! punches.

Step 1.  Punch a 1" square from your co-ordinating card stock, foil, vellum or glimmer paper and with a pencil draw straight lines diagonally from corner to corner.  One corner has been rounded below to show you the two different results using this technique.

Step 2.  Slide the square card into the Label Bracket punch as shown and line up the horizontal pencil line with the middle of the punch and vertical pencil line just past the punch's 'bracket' points and punch to get your first photo corner.

Step 4: This is the end result.  From one square you get two photo corners.  You have the option to round the square before punching using the corner rounder punch (photo corner on the left) or leave as is (photo corner on the right).

The equipment used to make your own photo corners is pictured below and can be purchased from my online store by clicking on the picture.

I hope you found this tutorial useful.

Make a Wish birthday card

Making a card for a teenage boy is always a bit of a challenge.  My nephew turned 14 recently and this card was made especially for him.

I kept the colour scheme simple by using Stampin' Up!'s Basic Black, Whisper White & Silver and had stars as the theme.

I created the banner from Silver foil, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock and used the Triple Banner punch to create the flagged ends.  The Confetti Star punch created a decorative border at the top of the banner and the stars from the punch were then used to decorate around the edges. Some Basic Black Bakers Twine was also wrapped around the top of the banner to add some texture.  The 'Make a Wish' sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants set and I stamped the letter 'a' twice and raised it up on some Silver Glimmer paper and foam dimensional. The number 14 was die cut using the Little Numbers thinlets in Basic Black card stock.

The banner was mounted on some Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper which was then attached to a Basic Black card base. Three Silver Glimmer paper stars were punched using the Itty Bitty Accent star punch and a black candy dot added into the centre of each to complete the card.

Birthday corner flip fold card

It was my sister's birthday recently and I thought I'd make her a corner flip fold card.

I made two versions of the same card - it uses the same Stampin' Up! Neutrals Designer Series Paper (DSP) stack - with one side having a stripe and the other a floral pattern.

Here are the individual cards:
For the floral DSP pattern, I dry embossed the card so that the Elegant Dots embossing was raised on the outside of the card.

For the striped DSP pattern, I dry embossed the card so that it was debossed on the outside of the card which gave it a faux stitching look - same Elegant Dots textured impressions embossing folder was used on both card but gave two different looks.

The colour scheme is Stampin' Up!'s Elegant Eggplant (as my sister loves the colour purple), Silver and Whisper White.  I used US based Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Linda Bauwin's corner flip fold card measurements as a guide for my cards. The sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and the butterfly diecut from the Butterflies thinlets set.

The key products used on this card have been listed below - just click on the picture and it will take you to my online store where the product can be purchased.  Papercrafting classes and workshops are available, please feel free to contact me for details.

Father's Day Card & Sneak Peek

Father's Day and the launch of the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue are only a few weeks away.  Today's card was made for Father's Day but also features a couple of sneak peeks from the new Holiday Catalogue too.

I embossed the Very Vanilla card stock with the new Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #139673) available from 1 September. I also lightly sponged some Crumb Cake ink over the woodland trees to make them 'pop' off the card.

I stamped the Vintage Leaves and diecut them using the Leaflets framelits which can be purchased individually or as a bundle to save 15% off RRP.  The leaves were then layered over some Natural Chevron ribbon and Kraft corrugated paper which had been shaped using the Banner Triple Punch.   Some linen thread was added to the next sneak peek item, the wooden acorn from the Into The Woods Elements embellishment set (item #139636) also available from 1 September.  The sentiment from the Crazy About You set was stamped and punched out using the Word Window punch and layered on top of the leaves cluster.  A small matching accent was added to the top left side of the card using the Kraft corrugated card, linen thread and matching candy dot. The Very Vanilla card stock layer was then  layered onto Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze card stock base.

With the exception of the two new 'sneak peek' products, the other key products used on this card have been listed below.  Click on the picture and it will take you to my online store where the product can be purchased.  Visit on 1 September when the new Holiday Catalogue products will be available.  Papercrafting classes are available.
