Christmas Countdown - perfect school holiday project

Are you looking for a project to occupy the kids during the school holidays?

The Stampin' Up! Christmas Countdown project kit advent calendar comes ready to be decorated. I found the frame and boxes to be very sturdy and the kit includes all the papers and embellishments you need to decorate the calendar.  Feel free to mix and match the patterns.  Once decorated, fill the boxes with treats of your choice in readiness for 1st December.

I used the kit only to create the advent calendar pictures here, but you can use the co-ordinating Christmas Countdown stamp set to jazzy it up further.  It's a perfect project for the kids to do and can be purchased here.  I loved the touches of gold foil which add extra shine to the project.

You do need to use your own glue/adhesive for this project.  I'd recommend the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue as it's easy to use by kids or adults.

Here's a close-up of the calendar.

September class - masculine cards

I so often hear that people struggle to make masculine cards.  Next week's  'One For The Boys' class will feature three masculine cards with a variety of techniques.

We'll be making one card featuring the Come Sail Away Suite.

I'll also be showing you how to use embossing paste to create a background like that pictured in the nature card below.

I have one space still available in the class on Friday 20 September at 10am.  If you live in Melbourne, Australia and would like to attend, please contact me asap for further details and to reserve your place in the class.

Peacock feathers card

As a follow-on from last week's card, I've again used theStampin' Up! Royal Peacock stamp set along with its co-ordinating Detailed Peacock dies to create this card.

I really wanted to feature the beautiful peacock feathers in this bundle.  I sponged some co-ordinating ink onto Whisper White cardstock before diecutting the feathers.  I also applied some Wink of Stella for extra shine before adhering them onto the card.  Below you can see how I've roughly sponged the ink onto the card stock before diecutting the feathers.

The sentiment and feathers were adhered over a layer of Noble Peacock Speciality Designer Series Paper.
