Merry Christmas snowflake card

The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue launched on 1 September 2015.  I made today's card using some of the new products available in the Holiday Catalogue.

The colour scheme of this card is Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and Smoky Slate/Silver.  I stamped the Snowflakes using the new Flurry of Wishes stamp set and punched them out using the Flower Medallion and co-ordinating Snow Flurry Punch.  The Embellished Ornaments set was used to stamp the holly leaves.  The 'merry' sentiment was die cut from the Christmas Greetings thinlits dies using Silver foil card.  The Decorative Dots textured impressions embossing folder added some texture to the Tempting Turquoise card stock with its small scallop edge in Smoky Slate.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the snowflakes and unfortunately you can't see all the real life gorgeous sparkle in the photo.

Cottage Greetings Kit

Stampin' Up! have released some wonderful card kits this year.  One of my favourite kits is the Cottage Greetings Kit which has enough supplies to make 15 cards - five each of three designs plus co-ordinating envelopes.  As with any kit, you can also add to it using your own supplies and change the suggested designs too.  You only need to supply your own sentiment stamps, ink and some adhesive (although the kit does come with foam dimensionals).

Here's three of the cards from the kit which have some little touches of my own.  The sentiments are from the co-ordinating Cottage Greetings stamp set and were stamped using Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon ink

Here are the individual cards with the first card made true to the instructions.

I added a butterfly stamped using the Bitty Butterfly punch, Papillon Potpourri stamp set and Blushing Bride ink.

I couldn't resist adding a silver ribbon bow onto this card.

Next week I'll show you how you can use some of the kit to make a Christmas card.

Happy Birthday - Retiform Style

I was challenged to make a Retiform technique card and here's the result featuring the Stampin' Up! Open Sea stamp set.

Retiform is "composed of crossing lines" and in stamping we use masking to ensure the images stay within their section of a crossed lines.  This card was inspired by a Retiform card made by Gina K.  To create this card I used Stampin' Up! Whisper White card stock as the base and sponged criss-crossed lines in Marina Mist ink.  I then sponged and blended Soft Sky ink onto the remaining white areas of the card.

Using the Stampin' Up! The Open Sea stamp set, I selected individual stamps from this set and stamped them in Soft Suede ink.  Prior to stamping, I masked off the lines already made with the Marina Mist ink with post-it-notes to ensure the images stayed within their section.  I used the banner triple punch to create the sentiment base and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Guys Greeting stamp set.  Some linen thread and an Antique Brad completes the sentiment.  The Retiform base is mounted on Early Espresso and added to a Marina Mist card base.
