Soft Sayings Card Kit

A couple of demonstrator friends and I regularly display and demonstrate Stampin' Up! products on a popup stand at our local shopping centre.  I always enjoy this day as we chat with the local shoppers and get to share our passion for papercrafting and Stampin' Up! products.

This week I took the Soft Sayings Card Kit to demonstrate. This was my first time using this kit and I fell in love with it.  The colour combinations are gorgeous and the cards in the kit go together so easily plus everything you need is in the kit - card bases, envelopes, embellishments, stamp set, acrylic block to use with the stamps, Basic Gray inkspot, bakers twine, washi tape and foam dots/dimensionals.   During the day I managed to get 11 of the 20 cards in the kit completed as can be seen below - which is a great outcome for me as I do spend a lot of time speaking with people at the stand.

This kit is perfect for a beginner crafter as everything, including the instructions on how to assemble the cards is in the kit. Floral Thanks

If you need Thank You cards, you can't go past the Stampin' Up! Floral Statements stamp set.  This set has both floral 'Hello' and 'Thanks' stamps.

I used the Stampin' Up! Whisper White Notecards to create these cards.  The Notecards are the perfect size for thank you cards and also come with co-ordinating envelopes in the packet.  I stamped the Notecards using the Floral Statements 'Thanks' stamp in Archival Basic Black ink and quickly watercoloured them in a variety of colours using ink refills and an Aqua Painter.  You can also use ink from your inkpad to watercolour too.  I used a little drop of ink refills in a paint palette as I was making a lot of these cards.

Deck the halls

Too early for Christmas cards?  No, it's never too early to start making your cards so there isn't a last minute rush.  The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue starts on 1 September and to help us get started on our cards early, they've released the gorgeous Carols of Christmas stamp set and co-ordinating Card Front Builder Thinlits dies now instead of waiting until 1 September. 

Here's one of the cards I've made using this bundle.

To make the Deck the Halls card I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base.  I then used the Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper which I diecut using the decorative edge die from the Card Front Builder Thinlits set.  I used the die twice to diecut the top and bottom of the card to get that beautiful decorative edge with the card base colour peeking through.  This decorative edge die is versatile and can be used on any occasion card including birthdays, weddings etc.

To create the centre focal sentiment I stamped the Deck the Halls sentiment onto Very Vanilla card stock.  It was diecut using the Stitched Shapes square die and layered onto Gold Foil and Cherry Cobbler card stock which had both been diecut using Layering Squares framelit dies.  A Gold Natural Trim bow was then added to the sentiment.  To complete the card, I adhered the small floral cluster which had been stamped using the poinsettia and leaves from the Carols of Christmas stamp set and diecut with co-ordinating dies from the Card Front Builder Thinlits set.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this birthday card.

To create this card I started with a Stampin' Up! Thick Whisper White card base.  I then embossed some of the standard Whisper White card stock using the Sparkle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and layered it onto the card base.

To create the copper side panel, I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Embossing Paste on some Whisper White card stock.  The paste is very easy to use and if you can butter your toast, you can use the Stampin' Up! embossing paste - just keep your palette knife flat when applying the paste and you'll get a nice smooth finish.  When the paste was still slightly damp to touch, I brushed some copper pigment powder onto the paste and it immediately adhered to the paste.  It only takes a few minutes for the paste to dry and lock in the pigment powder.  As an alternate to pigment powder you can for example use glitter, paint or ink to colour the paste. Heat embossing with Stampin' Up! copper embossing powder would also work too!  Once dry, I layered the embossed panel onto a slighty larger Basic Black card stock panel and adhered it to the left side of the card.

To complete the card I diecut the Happy Birthday sentiment using the Happy Birthday Thinlits die and adhered it to the card.

Hello floral statements

For anyone who likes colouring, the Stampin' Up! Floral Statements stamp set is a must have set.

To create this card I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base.  I then layered on top a piece of Basic Black card stock which had been embossed with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The Floral Statements 'Hello' was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Crumb Cake card stock then watercoloured using the Watercolour pencils. It was diecut using the Lots of Labels framelits. To complete the card I added a heart from the Hearts & Stars Elements, an Old Olive Sheer Ribbon bow and some Gold Mini Sequins.

I also created a pink version of this card.

To create this version I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base.  I then layered some Color Theory designer series paper and another piece of Basic Black card stock on top.  The Floral Statements 'Hello' was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White card stock then watercoloured using the Watercolour pencils. To complete the card I added a Pearl hat pin from my craft stash and an Old Olive Sheer Ribbon bow.
