Starry christmas card

This Christmas card features one of my favourite colour schemes, gold, black & white.

I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base and layered the gorgeous polka dot Fabulous Foil acetate over the top.  A tip when using this acetate - it has a protective coating on it to protect it in transit, so don't forget to peel it off before adding the acetate to the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Embellished Ornaments stamp set and die cut it using the Lots of Labels framelits.  I also die cut a slightly larger label in Gold Foil and layered them together.  The holly leaves were punched using the Holly Berry Punch, painted with a bit of Gold Wink of Stella and added to the sentiment, together with a gold bow.  The star from the Starlight thinlits has inbuilt fold lines and when you fold and score along these lines, it gives the star a 3D effect.  I added a few foam dimensionals under the centre of the star to ensure it kept its shape.

Sunburst 19th birthday card

Birthday cards are needed all year around and I made this card for a special young man in my life.

I started with a Stampin' Up! Whisper White card base and layered it with Night of Navy card stock and the striped paper from the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper pack.  Yes, even with a name like 'Floral Boutique', these double sided papers have many versatile patterns that can be used for both male or female cards and scrapbooking pages too.  I used the Sunburst thinlits die to cut out the Night of Navy sunburst and then embossed it using the Lucky Stars embossing folder.  The sentiment was from the Sunburst Sayings stamp set which can be purchased together with the Sunburst thinlit as a bundle which saves you 10% off the RRP if they were to be purchased separately. I also diecut two circles, one Night of Navy and one Silver Foil using the new Stitches Shapes framelits.  I love the stitched look, particularly around the Silver Foil circle.  I added some metallic thread under the star sentiment and layered it altogether onto the card with two metallic star enamel dots too.  The number '19' was die cut using the retired Little Numbers dies.

Below is a close up of the sentiment cluster which had been layered onto the Silver Foil circle die cut using the new Stitched Shapes framelits.  One of the best things about these new framelits is that you get four sizes of Circle, Oval and Square dies all in the one packet - plenty of variety.

Cheerful Tags packaging

A popular birthday and Christmas gift is a box of chocolates or bottle of wine.  Stampin' Up!'s Cheerful Tags framelit dies and co-ordinating Here's To You stamp set which can be purchased separately or as a bundle, make it so easy to add a little something special to your gift packaging.  Teamed with the new 15x43cm Gusseted Cellophane bags you have the perfect packaging.

I put a bottle of wine into one of the Gusseted Cellophane bags and then created the tag using the Here's to Cheers and Cheerful Tags bundle. I first diecut the bottle tag in Elegant Eggplant and added the flourish diecut Gold Foil paper and the stamped Cheers label.  The striped Delightful Dijon ribbon and some Gold 1/8" ribbon completed the tag.  So quick and easy, but so effective and a lovely way to package a present.

Here's a close up of the layers on the tag.

New Stampin' Up! Stitched Shapes framelits

I'm so excited to see that Stampin' Up! released their Stitched Shapes Framelit dies on 1 November 2016.

I needed to make a birthday card for a young man and thought I'd put these new dies to the test.  Below is a close up of the silver foil circle that I used a stitched die to cut out.  The stitching is deep and easily cut through the foil and only needed one pass through the BigShot.  (More details about the card will be available in a future post.)

As you can see from the flyer below, there are 12 dies in total in the one packet - you get 4 circles, 4 squares and 4 ovals.  I love this variety all in one packet.

To celebrate the release of these dies, Stampin' Up! also have 25% off RRP of some of the stamp sets which can be used with these dies from 1-30 November 2016.  Click here to see the stamps on sale.

Star of light christmas card

The Star of Light stamp set and co-ordinating Starlight thinlits bundle was on the top of my list to purchase from the Holiday Catalogue and I so enjoyed making this card.

I started with a Whisper White card stock base and added a layer of Sweet Sugarplum card stock on top.  I stamped the star flourish from the Star of Light stamp set onto another smaller piece of Whisper White card stock and layered a Sweet Sugarplum die cut star from the Starlight Thinlits which had been stamped in Rich Razzleberry over the flourish.  A smaller die cut Silver Foil Star was added to the large star.  The sentiment is also from the Star of Light stamp set and was stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink.  I added some of the gorgeous Sweet Sugarplum glitter ribbon to the card and layered the sentiment on top.  A few Rhinestones completes the card.
