Sky is the limit

There's only a couple of days left to get the free Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration Sky is the Limit stamp set.  This is a fabulous set for male cards and it also has some sentiments which could be used on anyone's card.


The stamp set is available in both Clear Mount and Wood Mount - the choice is yours as to which one you'd like for free with any order (excluding postage) of $90.  The set is only available until 15 February 2016 or while stock lasts.


This card was inspired by a card made by New Zealand demonstrator, Paula Dobson.

Hello Baby

I'm often asked for a baby card and thought I'd make a couple to have on hand.  Here they are:

 

Both cards feature the Stampin' Up! Something for Baby stamp set and Baby's First Framelits (which can be bought as a bundle saving 15% off RRP).  I started with a Sahara Sand card base and added a layer of Whisper White card stock. I've used the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack for both these cards, and just changed the colours - one being Soft Sky and the other Pink Pirouette.  I embossed some Whisper White card stock with the Happy Heart embossing folder to add some texture under the pram. Co-ordinating Candy Dots were added to the pram too. Some Venetian Crochet Trim ties the three sections together.  The hello baby sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

The for baby boy card, I added three buttons from the Subtles button collection which I had threaded with some White Baker's Twine.


 
I made a double bow using Pink Pirouette seam binding ribbon for the baby girl's card.

I have a stand and am demonstrating at the Eastern Pregnancy & Baby Expo next Sunday, 14 February 2016. Year of the Monkey

Here's a quick card made for my friends celebrating Chinese New Year next week.


I started with a Stampin' Up! Real Red card stock card base and added a piece of retired Gold Soiree designer series paper.  I die cut the sentiment label from the Lots of Labels framelits, stamped and heat embossed in gold the Happy New Year from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and Celebrate from the retired Outlined Occasions stamp set.  The little monkey is from the Zoo Babies stamp set and I also used gold embossing powder and heat set it too.  I used gold glimmer paper for the '2016'.  A couple of little pieces of 1/8" gold ribbon completed the card.

So to those celebrating Chinese New Year - wishing you all the very best in the Year of the Monkey.

Totally Amazing

Today's card is a quick and simple card designed to give to any man in your life.



I used the Stampin' Up! Amazing Birthday stamp set to create this card.  I stamped the striped banner behind the sentiment onto the Cajun Craze base.  I also stamped the centre sentiment twice, once in Cajun Craze onto the Very Vanilla card stock and also in Lost Lagoon ink too.  I fussy cut the 'Amazing' from the Lost Lagoon inked piece and added it over the Cajun Craze sentiment to give it some added interest.  Quick & simple.

Tip: Juicy inkpads - when less is more!

If you find yourself with a very juicy inkpad that's not necessarily a good thing if you want to get a crisp stamped image.

If your inkpad has too much ink - you may see excessive ink beading or bubbling on the inkpad or the stamp - try this tip.

Using the back of something smooth - I use an old metal teaspoon - gently massage the ink into your inkpad. You can even store you inkpads the other way up and let the ink settle to the bottom of the pad. If needed, you can even use paper towel to soak up the excess ink too.

You'll see in the photo above the bottom stamped line on the box is over saturated and many of the little hearts which should be white have been inked due to the over juicy inkpad. The top line is stamped cleanly after I massaged the ink into the inkpad as per the picture below.


Here's the completed cutie pie box.  I've used a Stampin' Up! Soft Sky and Island Indigo colour scheme.
