Angela's PaperArts: Pop-up Star Explosion birthday card

While Christmas is just around the corner, I'm still making cards for family & friends who are celebrating their birthday during December.

I made this pop-up star explosion card for one of my good friend's recent birthday.

The card features the retired Stampin' Up! Mediterranean Blooms papers along with the Brilliant Wings die set. It folds together like a standard gatefold card for posting and has a bellyband to keep it together.

Here's how I decorated the back of the card. I left one panel blank in order to write a message to my friend.

To create the card, I used the tutorial by Mixed Up Craft & adjusted the size to suit what I wanted. You can find the original tutorial here.

Angela's PaperArts: Brilliant Wings embossed birthday card

One of my favourite Stampin' Up! products for adding texture is Embossing Folders.

For this card's background I've combined two old techniques from when I used to do a lot of mixed media.

To create this card:
  1. I inked the Pretty Flowers embossing folder itself with different inks and then embossed the Basic White cardstock.
  2. I then swiped my retired Delicata silver inkpad over the raised embossing which adds to the distressed background effect.
The butterflies are from the Brilliant Wings die set. I've used a combination of silver Foundry Wax and silver embossing powder around the edges of the cardstock and on the butterfly wings.

The sentiment is from the Celebrating You stamp set and I used the Very Best Trio Punch to create the slanted edge.  If you'd like to see all the other features and a video on how to get the most out of the Very Best Trio Punch, you can see my post here

The products used on this project can be purchased from my online store if you live in Australia.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Hand Penned & Biggest Wish birthday card

From 1 July - 2 August 2021, a select number of Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP) packs will be discounted by 15%.  You can see all those on sale here. One of my favourite DSPs on sale is the Hand Penned DSP and I've created a few cards which I'll share over the coming weeks which feature this beautiful paper.

There are so many different colours in this DSP which makes it easy to mix and match.

Here's my first card.

I used the simple technique of cutting the Hand Penned DSP on an angle to add some extra interest to the card.  This then gave me space to stamp my sentiment which is from the Biggest Wish stamp set, without having to add extra layers onto the card.

I highlighted the border by using the Open Weave Soft Succulent ribbon and added the finishing touches of a butterfly from the Brilliant Wings dies.

The products used are all available and can be purchased from my online store if you live in Australia.
