Up & Away for Easter

As a child, I remember receiving a very special hot air balloon Easter egg.  When I saw the Stampin' Up!, Up & Away hot air balloon thinlits, I had to try recreating that treat.

I used the Stampin' Up! Popcorn box thinlits dies to create the hot air balloon basket.  I then decorated the basket by die cutting the cloud from Cupcakes & Carousels designer series paper stack and layered the Happy Easter sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set over the top of the cloud having punched it out using the Classic Label punch.  Some Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon and Rhinestones completes the balloon's basket.

To create the 3D hot air balloon, I die-cut four hot air balloons in Flirty Flamingo card stock and adhered them together around a paper straw which I had in my stash.  I adhered the straw to the bottom of the Popcorn box and 'anchored' the balloon to the box with Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine on all four corners of the basket.  I then added a few rhinestones to embellish the balloon.

To complete the treat, the hot air balloon basket was then filled with yummy chocolate Easter eggs and has had to refilled a couple of times since - it's funny how Easter eggs seem to just disappear in my home. ;)  Does that happen at your place too?

Build it birthday card

This birthday card was made for my Dad who trained as a carpenter/joiner and still loves making beautiful items out of wood.

http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011749

I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base and added a layer of Basic Gray card stock and the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper.

I created the 'grungy' hexagon strip down the card by dry embossing some Silver Foil paper with the Hexagon Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I also heat embossed this strip and added some black StazOn ink to give it the grungy look.  The tools were diecut using the Build It framelits set.

The sentiment was stamped using the Everyday Tags stamp set and diecut using one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits oval dies.

Window shopping birthday card

I'm always in need of birthday cards for family and friends and thought I'd make use of the gorgeous metallic Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration ribbon to make this card.

I started this card with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base and layered some Watermelon Wonder card stock on top.  On a piece of Whisper White, I used one of the large dies from the Window Box Thinlits set to diecut the floral 'window' centrepiece.  I then layered some Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper under the 'see through' floral window. The Happy Birthday sentiment from the Window Shopping stamp set was stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink at the bottom of the card.  A piece of the gorgeous Sale-A-Bration White & Silver Metallic Ribbon was layered down the side of the card before adding it to the card base.  This ribbon can be yours too for free with any $90 qualifying order until 31 March 2017 (or while stock lasts).  Two butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set were punched out using the Bitty Butterfly punch, a rhinestone added and layered over the floral window.
