Celebrating 18

It was my son's 18th birthday not long ago and I made his birthday cake, cupcakes for guests and decorations for his party. The colour scheme was Silver, White and Bermuda Bay. You could adapt these items to any event by simply changing the colour scheme.

Rather than making the cake centrepiece out of fondant (which I usually do), I made his cake topper using Stampin' Up! products (except for the 'Celebrate' diecut and white florist wire).  I used the retired Simply Stars stamp set and co-ordinating star punches, along with some smaller punched stars out of Stampin' Up! silver foil and silver glimmer paper.  You could substitute the retired star punches and stamp set with the current catalogue star framelits and co-ordinating stamp set. The clear cellophane cake bags had a topper made using Stampin' Up! circle and star punches along with the thank you sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

The treat boxes were made using Stampin' Up!'s Fry Box die and co-ordinating All About Sugar stamp set.

I "heart" U card

Here's a playful card for the man in your life for Valentine's day or as an Anniversary card.  This I 'heart' U  card is deliberately muted by using a masculine colour scheme.  You could easily make this card for kids or a woman by simply changing the colour scheme.

I started this card with a Stampin' Up! Early Espresso card base and layered this with Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I used the Balloon Builders stamp set to create the I 'heart' U balloons in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.  I used the Curvy Corner Trio punch to create the shaped corners.  The sentiment is also from the same Balloon Builders stamp set stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and shaped using the Banner Triple punch.  I added some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine wrapped around the sentiment and a bow onto the balloon strings.  Some Early Espresso Candy Dots on the card corners and balloon strings completed the card.

There's no better time to buy Stampin' Up! products as for every $90 of products you purchase (excluding postage), you can choose a free Sale-A-Bration gift now until 31 March 2016.  If you have a large 'wish list' of Stampin' Up! items, talk to me about how you can receive $295 worth of product for only $169 during Sale-A-Bration.

Love blossoms

I'm getting ready for Valentine's Day as today's card features the new Stampin' Up! Bloomin' Heart thinlets dies and co-ordinating Bloomin' Love stamp set.  This card could also be given for a special anniversary too.

I started this card by using a Stampin' Up! Real Red card base.  I then embossed some Whisper White cardstock with the Happy Hearts embossing folder and punched the two top corners using the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.  I diecut the Bloomin' Heart from the centre of the embossed cardstock and co-ordinating flowers from the Bloomin' Hearts thinlet set in Real Red cardstock.  I layered the embossed cardstock onto the card base and mounted the heart on foam dimensionals to add some height to the card.  The sentiment banner was stamped using the Bloomin' Love stamp set and diecut using the co-ordinating banner die from the Large Numbers framelits die set. It was layered onto another banner which had been diecut from Silver Glimmer paper.  I added some Silver 1/8" ribbon, the co-ordinating flowers and some rhinestones to complete the card.

Here's a close up of the diecut details and embossing.

Sale-A-Bration has just started and is running until 31 March 2016.  There's no better time to buy Stampin' Up! products as for every $90 of products you purchase (excluding postage), you can choose a free Sale-A-Bration gift.  Take a look at the catalogues (link at the top of this page), purchase through my online store or host a workshop with friends and earn free products during this time.  If you have a large 'wish list' of Stampin' Up! items, now is also the perfect time to join as you get $295 worth of product that you choose for only $169.  Talk to me today about the other benefits you get when joining Stampin' Up!

World's Best Dad Goes Global

I'm loving the new Occasions catalogue, especially the Going Places collection which is perfect for male cards.

Not long ago I attended a Stampin' Up! catalogue release day.  Everyone attending this event was given some sample products and I received some of the Going Global product suite featured in this card. The card base is Lost Lagoon with a layer of Basic Black card stock.  The centre elements included embossing Sahara Sand card stock with the World Traveler embossing folder which had been inked with Crumb Cake ink to give the map a grungy/distressed finish.  I then layered the Hello Honey cotton ribbon onto the right side of the card.  The sentiment cluster is made up of different papers from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack and the sentiment is from the Going Global stamp set.  I added a world charm from my own stash with some Gold Metallic Thread to complete the card.

Don't forget that from now until 31 March, Sale-A-Bration is running which means that for every $90 of products you purchase from my online store, you get to choose a free Sale-A-Bration item which is added to your order.  If you have a large 'wish list', contact me to discuss ways you can save $$$s.
