Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Side Split Panel Christmas card

I do like using metallics on my Christmas projects. I feel it adds that little special touch appropriate for the festive season.  This Side Split Panel card has lots of gold embellishment.

The Decorative Tree diecut was stamped and heat embossed using the WOW! gold embossing powder

The Season of Green & Gold paper is part of a broader suite with a co-ordinating stamp & die bundle, but I liked how it still paired well with the Decorative Trees bundle.

If you'd like to learn how to make this style of card, you can find my tutorial here.

The current Stampin' Up! products used on the project can be purchased from my online store if you live in Australia.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin Up Christmas labels distressed rustic Christmas card

I'm continuing to make my Christmas cards and thought I'd share a tip for distressing embossed cardstock today.

Here's the card which features the Christmas Labels bundle, Painted Trees 3D embossing folder, Winter Meadows designer series paper and the two-tone Garden Green cardstock from the Reindeer Memories multi colour two-tone cardstock pack.

TIP: The two-tone cardstock has a light and dark side of the Garden Green colour and also a white core. This makes it easy to distress & reveal the white core by using a piece of sandpaper or an emery board. By lightly rubbing the sandpaper over the raised edges of the Painted Trees 3D embossed cardstock, it revealed the white core which looks like 'snow' on the trees.

Another way to distress embossed cardstock is to swipe an inkpad over the raised sections of the embossed cardstock to get contrasting colours on the embossed image.

You may remember this tip from my last post where I showed how to save the excess diecut pieces from the largest Christmas Labels as they are cute little flourishes.

Here's how I used the little flourish pieces on this card's sentiment label. I tucked them around the Christmas label to add a finishing touch.

I also flicked ink mixed with a little water onto the card to add a further distressing element to the card.

Angela's PaperArts: Stampin' Up! Christmas Labels card

Making Christmas cards is at the top of my crafting list at the moment.  The Stampin' Up! Christmas Labels bundle is a lovely set for adding sentiments onto my cards. I've also used the newly released Marbled Elegance specialty designer series paper on the two cards I'm sharing today.

The Marbled Elegance paper has been released to co-ordinate with the new Hearts of Elegance stamp & die bundle.  I love the versatility of this paper as some of the sheets have a red, gold & white colour scheme which perfectly suits Christmas projects too.

TIP: To economically use the distressed gold foil paper onto which the Marbled Elegance paper was matted, I diecut the Christmas Label out of the paper first. Once the Marbled Elegance paper was layered on top of it, the hole in the gold foil paper was totally covered and the card recipient wouldn't know it was there at all.

TIP: You may notice from the picture above that there are little flourishes under the largest Christmas Labels diecut. These are pieces which come out of the label which would normally be thrown away, but not this time - they're perfect little flourish accents on projects.

Here are the two card side by side. Which one do you prefer?
