Grunge 18th birthday

My son asked me to make a low key 18th birthday card for his friend with a green and black colour scheme.  Here's the result.

I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card base with a layer of Always Artichoke and the retiring Go Wild Designer Series Paper.  I then added the centre focal element which I deliberately kept simple.  Using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, I stamped the horizontal stripes in Always Artichoke ink.  I then added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the retiring You're So Lovely stamp set in Mossy Meadow.  Some Silver Metallic Thread, punched stars, candy dots and the number '18' diecut from the Little Numbers thinlets set finished off the card.  Quick to do and my son was happy with the result.

Thinking of you

There are times when you want your friends to know that you're there for them.  I made this card for one such friend.

I started with a Stampin' Up! Basic Black card stock base and added a layer of Calypso Coral card stock and the retiring Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper.  Using the fern from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, I stamped it in Old Olive ink three times onto Very Vanilla card stock. Using the same stamp set, I stamped the postage mark in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Butterflies in Calypso Coral ink.  I also punched out three butterflies using the Bitty Butterfly punch to give it a 3D effect and added some Pearl Basic Jewels onto the butterflies. The small black border at the bottom of the centre piece was also from the same stamp set too.  This Very Vanilla card stock centre piece was added to a some Basic Black card stock and layered onto the card base.

I then used the Thinking of You stamp from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set for the sentiment.  It was punched using the Large oval punch and layered onto Calypso Coral card stock which had been punched using the Scallop Oval punch. A bow was made from Calypso Coral seam binding ribbon  was added to the side of the sentiment.

Sneak Peak #5: Stampin' Up! 2016-18 In-Color Flirty Flamingo

This is the last of five posts, one for each of the new Stampin' Up! 2016-18 In-Colors being released in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalogue which starts on 1 June 2016.  This sneak peek lets you view the new colour and some of the new stamp sets available in the 2016-17 annual catalogue.  If you are interested in Stampin' Up! products and are located in Australia, please contact me as I'd be happy to assist you.

I was selected by Stampin' Up! to make 20 card samples in total using the five new colours for the  demonstrator only OnStage event held in Sydney on 16 April and my brief was to highlight the new colour.  Below are the four Flirty Flamingo coloured cards that I created for #OnStage2016.

Colour #5 Flirty Flamingo

Flirty Flamingo is a bright, vibrant pink which works well with many of the other Stampin' Up! colours such as Watermelon Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.

Who can resist these cute little ladybirds from the Lots of Love stamp set.  This card features Flirty Flamingo card stock and 2016-18 In-Color DSP stack along with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White and Silver glimmer card stock.  I dry embossed the large Flirty Flamingo card stock banner with the Happy Hearts TIEF layered it over the Watermelon Wonder banner.  I then added the smaller banners and circles with the ladybirds over the larger vertical banners.  Some Silver 1/8" ribbon and Silver sequins completed the card.

This card features Flirty Flamingo card stock, classic ink and ruched ribbon.  I've also used the Grateful Bunch stamp set and co-ordinating Blossom Bunch punch for the flowers and lace border.  The Grateful Bunch stamp is a Photopolymer set which makes it easy to stamp a straight lace border.  I stamped several of the flowers, layered them for extra dimension and added a Rhinestone for a bit of bling. The sentiment is from the Wetlands stamp set and was stamped using Tuxedo Black ink.

This card features Flirty Flamingo card stock, 2016-18 In-Color DSP stack, classic ink and ruched ribbon along with the new Gift of Love hostess set.  If you want a quick and easy card, you can't go wrong with this two step stamp set.  I stamped the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and using the outline stamp and then stamped the blossoms in Flirty Flamingo and leaves in Pear Pizzazz.  I diecut the flower using the now retiring Oval framelits (to be replaced with the new Layering Oval framelits) and layered it onto the larger Pear Pizzazz card stock oval.  The sentiment is also from the Gift of Love stamp set, was diecut using the Tags & Labels framelits and then layered onto a Flirty Flamingo banner with a couple of small pearls added at the side.

My last card features Flirty Flamingo card stock, ruched ribbon and classic ink along with the Party Popup thinlets and Confetti TIEF.  I embossed Whisper White cardstock using the Confetti TIEF and brayered it with Flirty Flamingo ink to highlight the pattern.  I then diecut the 'Happy Birthday' Party Popup thinlet in Whisper White and the base in Gold Foil. I sponged the Happy Birthday sentiment with Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Crushed Curry so it blended in with the rest of the card.  Some gold stars from the other 'Hip Hip Hooray' Party Popup thinlet were diecut and scattered around the card.  A ruched ribbon bow completes the card.

I do hope you've enjoyed the sneak peek of some new stamp sets and the Flirty Flamingo 2016-18 In-Color.  The five new colours: Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo will all be available from my online store on 1 June 2016. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or leave a comment below.
