Christmas Shaker Cards

Stampin' Up! has made getting ready for Christmas easy.  Their 'To You & Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit' makes 18 cards in total, six of each design and has nearly everything you need to complete the cards in the kit.

I did make some changes to the instructions provided in the kit.  For example, I dry embossed the front of all the cards and used stamps already in my stash for one of the sentiments and some background stamping inside the shaker cards too.  To see a larger version of the cards, just click on the picture above.  Should you prefer, the kit does have a matching stamp set called 'To You and Yours Too' which can be purchased along with the kit.

As this kit is now on the Retiring Christmas product list, I'd recommend you get in quick before it's sold out.

Class of 2015

December in Australia means the end of the school year.  My son has just finished his final year at High School and is anxiously awaiting his exam results before expecting to head off to University next year.  I made this card in celebration of his final year at school.

I created a Basic Black card base and layered it with Gold Foil and retiring Black Glimmer paper.  I then added some gold striped vellum from the retiring Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack along the centre of the card.  I stamped and heat embossed in gold the retired Stampin' Up! Class of 2015 focal sentiment which was diecut using the Deco Labels Collection framelits and layered over a co-ordinating Gold Foil diecut and adhered to the card base.

Retiring products like the Black Glimmer paper and Winter Wonderland vellum are only available while stock lasts - so get in quick before they're gone.   Papercrafting classes are available.

Thoughts & Prayers sympathy card

You never know when a sympathy card may be need for a family member or friend. I unfortunately had to make this card for a friend recently but it could be used as a general 'thinking of you' card too just to let someone know you care.

I sponged the centre focal point with a combination of Stampin' Up!'s Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon and Mint Macaron inks.  To get the sponging straight, I masked off the sides with post-it-notes.  I then used the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and stamped the tree and sentiment in Early Espresso.  I used the now retired Scallop Trim punch to create the delicate Early Espresso scallop border and added a candy dot in each corner.  The centrepiece was then layered on top of Bohemian Designer Series Paper and an Early Espresso card base.

Dinosaur Duo

I love making kids cards as they like bright, cheery & fun cards. Boys and girls both like dinosaurs and so I made two versions using colours to suit.

The Stampin' Up! No Bones About It stamp set has a terrific variety of stamps.  I only needed the one stamp set to create these cards.  I stamped a border around each dinosaur and added a banner with the sentiment.  Very quick & easy to do.

Timeless Elegance

The new Stampin' Up! Timeless Elegance Designer Series paper can be used to make very quick but elegant cards.  Here are a couple of examples:

I cut down the one of the patterns within the Timeless Elegance DSP range and was able to make a few cards from the one sheet.

For both of these cards I sponged the edges and flowers with Wisteria Wonder ink and used the gorgeous Wisteria Wonder seam binding ribbon and Venetian crochet trim along the edge.  Each card has Papillion Potpourri butterflies and the new metal rimmed pearls add a vintage touch.  For anyone short of time, these cards are the perfect solution as they are very quick to put together.
